Rolling over your 401k is relatively simple, unfortunately, this is a “push” transaction that must come from the 401k custodian and not an account we can “pull” to Schwab. Thus, you will need to initiate the process with a call to the 401K administrator and let them know that you want to do a Direct 401k Rollover to your IRA at Charles Schwab.
If the 401K Administrator can send it electronically, you should just need your Schwab IRA account number.
If the 401K Administrator must send a check, there are a couple of options:
1. They can mail the check directly to Charles Schwab:
Regular mail:
Charles Schwab & Co., INC
P.O. Box 628290
Orlando, Florida 32862-8290
Overnight mail:
Charles Schwab & Co., INC
1958 Summit Park Drive, STE 500
Orlando, Florida 32810
2. They can mail it to you, and you can either mail it to Schwab or bring it to our office to deposit.
The check should be made payable to: Charles Schwab & CO FBO [Your Name] and the Schwab IRA account number should be listed in the memo.
Please call our office at 732.784.2380 if you have any questions or require assistance.
